I am always late getting out of the house in the morning, if its not the children losing things its me - how can i get under control?
- The best thing to do in any part of your day that has the same sort of routine in it is to create a checklist and outline schedule for that part of the day (works especially well at the start or the end of the day). What we are trying to do is create habits, and once you have followed your unique schedule for a few weeks then the habits will become natural and you will be able to throw away the written plan (it is widely known that it takes 28 times of doing something for it to become a habit, so I always recommend to clients that they do something for a month before they decided whether its working or not)
- Create a schedule so that you know what you are doing from the moment you get up to the time that you need to leave the house. It may actually be that you are trying to fit too muchinto that time, or it may simply be that you are unorganised - but only by writing it down will you findout!
- Having a hook in the hallway for each family members coats and bags and shoes will help you the night before to ensure they are ready and packed, the same with your handbag / wallet etc.... - and try and get everyone into the habit of picking clothes for the next day the night before as this will stop lots of wasting of time ironing or sorting out the next day - in fact - the nighttime routine is so interlinked with having a good morning routune you would be recommended to do them both together even if you only think you need help with the morning. Even things like setting out the breakfast stuff the night before can make the morning go so much more smoothly.
- I really hope that this helps to make a start for you, and that you can identify the causes of your headaches in the morning, and I look forward to hearing about the new you!
